Ah, A/B. I have to wonder if the efficiency can be generalized as much as it seems to be in use. Are the silly cartoon creatures part of A/B too? :P I do hope this runs its course.

Agreed. I think the founders are still trying to rationalize otherwise, but the goal is to make the service the best it can be. Any clients in the way will be consumed.

I think the source of advice is key. It seems to me that there are a lot of 'startup experts' that don't have so much startup success. This is my principle on advice: If the advice comes from someone that has achieved a lot in the area I am

Personally, I'd have a serious discussion with him. I am a non-technical co-founder, and I can't stop finding things to do. Some pain now might save you a lot of pain later.

Hey guy, it was racism that screwed up our city of Detroit, not highways. Get it straight. Geesh.

Well, this will have the opposite effect. It seems Conde Nast doesn't understand their product very well.

Yes, that happens to be the case. It comes down to data. If you don't have the science to back it up, then you cannot win me over with speculation about issues that require scientific investigation and supporting evidence without bringing s

I am sure that intelligent life exists out there. It's just a numbers game. However, if they are intelligent, based on how long we have been around, chances are they have been so much much longer. Millions of years would be more likely than

I didn't see this referred to in the article. And that was my point, it's a very poorly written article.

I read it again. Which paper are you referring to? The essay? -That's not a scientific paper, it is speculation by a scientist. You see, the problem is that the issue is too complex to wrap up like they did here. It is not sexy, but every c

I am tired of this hand-waving crap. These guys are making money by pushing flashy contrarian views with half-baked theories and little to no actual data. IMHO, this stuff is to science what FoxNews is to politics.

I just can't imagine it. I am not a technical founder, and I would never waste my time building something without one. I guess that unless you have one, you would never know what they can bring to the table.

Yep, and we can make those using bacteria machinery. But, it is actually pretty different when compared to some of the possibilities set out by nanotech folk. Viruses passively work in a system where their structure is intrinsic to the syst

The suspense is going to kill me. I'm thinking it has to be either a sister-like system, or have a green/blue planet. My money is on the former.

I looked at Ning some time ago for players of the small RPG I made. The service seemed redundant with the site, storefront, email accounts, and forum I already have, which are very cheap. I think Ning is enterprise software of a social sort

1. Think to myself, "I wish I could do (something outlandish and probably impossible, like teleport)." 2. Keep thinking that for a few days. 3. Break down the idea into components that would enable me to do it. 4. Cycle through those compon

IMHO not every startup needs to solve a problem. Most probably should, but entertainment is a viable reason for existence. Even so, some services simply lower barriers for socialization, which serves a need. That said, I don't get Foursquar
