Yep - the total TDP of the comparison is like 600W. The Pro is also for people with strange PCIe card needs - the Mac Studio delivers this performance in a tall MacMini form factor and nearly silent operation. Not that there aren't thi

Yeah the USB-C version with the iMX6 chip is much nicer but it’s still been out a few years. I love mine but it’s very much batteries not included.

All features of Discord work for me using the normal system permissions on screen recording and audio. I do run MacVMs with SIP off, but I leave it on as an important security feature most of the time. It's really not a lot different t

Everyone always overestimates Intel's ability to do things. I worked for IBM in the P4 days and we were worried about 9-10 GHz pentiums. But Intel has a tendency to coast when it's doing well, and then only wakes up when AMD (and

It is, but sadly that's not illegal in the US.

Yep - this is constructive dismissal for sure, but in the US there isn't any general law against it.

Honestly you could probably do it today, but back then it would have been a lot harder. You’d have to find every buggy use after free. Just easier to change the allocator for it. Probably how you’d do it today under emulation.

Yep. It’s just the first version of AppCompat. Now you get to pick a set of bugs and behaviors. It’s actually a pretty great idea to isolate problematic software.

Yeah. I had this version of SimCity. It came on floppy disk. I had a 14.4k modem at the time (or maybe still the stock 2400?) the only way for MSFT to make this work was to add code like this. Honestly we still do it sometimes. Emulators ro

This is a crazy overreaction. Should be a misdemeanor with like a fine, max.

Yeah, this is a load of nonsense. The worst part is this essays ahistorical line of thinking. Like highlighting the Romans bad behavior without examining things like the crusades and chattel slavery which used Christianity as a defense. And

Yeah, I’m a maintainer, MacPorts will download a binary if it can. ffmpeg is a weird case thanks to the non-free variants, but even it has some binary installs. Also, for instance, OpenJDK is a port that is offered and we do not compile tha

Yeah, I’ll believe this when a 3rd party shows it to me. Seems like they’re combing for benchmarks. Intel should focus instead on hiring new engineers to fix their garbage chips and process before AMD, Apple, Amazon, and god knows who else

A few games have this setting, Control for one. YouTube streamers like to use it because of the copyright strike nonsense, that way they don’t have to do it manually or turn down the audio.

Don’t forget when the workers at Walmart need to go on Medicaid and other government programs we’re subsidizing their profits.

MSFT buying them even lowers the risk a bit, since they have the backing of a big tech company so they’re financially more secure. And you should keep backups, I don’t care where you’re hosted.

Yeah. This is very 90s MSFT complaining. Also, based on the way git works I’m certain there are dozens of backup copies. But I know I keep specific copies as well. It’s super easy. It’s git.

Ektachrome was the other thing I shot a lot of. But you could never beat that Kodachrome Red.

Man I miss Kodachrome. Of course, I hadn’t shot it in decades. I miss the idea of it more, I guess.

One of these days we’ll need to get IEEE to formalize a standard.

Yep. That’s correct. Unless you have a working T2, any SSD you have is basically decorative. Which is good for data security but terrible for its integrity.

Yeah. And it seems like a natural fit for DropBox. I'd love this service on my dropbox. And I had never heard of it before. Dropbox is looking for ways to stay competitive with the likes of Google, etc, and I'm amazed at how well
