Sorry if I wasn't clear - I didn't mean 8 bits for the whole number, just 8 bits for each part between decimal points. I can't imagine doing 256 iterations of something without deciding that you need to bump the next number

And at the same time admitting that perfection is impossible. Brilliant. P.S. on my screen your pi symbol π looks too much like n, I was confused for a moment.

I'm not familiar with Linux version numbers, so apologies if this is a stupid question. How often do version numbers increment that any portion would overflow 8 bits? None of the software I've ever worked on would even come clos

And Thomas Edison didn't invent the light bulb. History doesn't look on him any less kindly for that.

From what I read recently, New Zealand was already struggling to cope with its tourist population. That means they're already on the edge. Probably not a problem anymore since COVID, but we'll see what happens when/if thing

We decided early on that a daily scrum was just too frequent to be effective for our team, so went to 2x per week. When we started working from home, we added a "keep in touch" meeting for the other 3 days of the week just to sta

I thought the 750ml bottle was a single serving size? For a joke, my family got me a 750ml glass a couple of Christmases ago. I have yet to use it.

My (former) boss uses the time for audio books. If traffic is bad, he doesn't care - it gives him more time with his book.

I've always been confused by the confusion between yellow and orange. I've had people insist that pumpkins are yellow for example. And Yellow Freight (now YRC) has always had an orange logo.

I'm with you, the relationship between brown and orange is anything but obvious.

I thought the majority of their current problems stemmed from having lost the lead in fabs. You can't have the best chips if you don't have the best fab tech.

I love Raniers, and they're not at all rare in grocery stores in Minnesota. Only downside is that they're significantly more expensive than Bings.

I don't know about that. The Gros Michel supposedly has more of the chemical that's used for artificial banana flavor, and I've always hated that flavor.

It's funny how history repeats but we don't learn. The most popular banana variety used to be the Gros Michel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gros_Michel_banana but it was almost completely wiped out by a fung

In the case of bananas, efficiency is precisely the problem. The Cavendish is so popular that the entire production pipeline has been hyper-optimized for it.
