It's not just ls though, the shell hides them too right? echo * won't show them.

That makes sense; power utilities have lots of money, and they're going to build new plants to provide power, that's their job. As solar power becomes cheaper relative to other options and has intangible benefits too, it will inc

That's kind of cool, thanks. How long does it take to do a web scrape versus a DB dump?

The biggest tragedy is good answers to bad questions. The answer might teach you something you never knew before, but if the question is judged harshly it might get deleted or hidden in search results.

It's much harder to work with the data if you don't have the code. SO is not open source.

I think I have a 68HC11 sitting around that I picked up for a project and never used. I wonder if it's worth anything?

I knew a guy who tried to build a multi processor system with 16 6800s. Made a mistake with the power supply and ended up frying all of them.

I never got to use the 6800, but did use both the 6809 and 68000 in assembler. Both were a joy to work with.

I once did a progress dialog for a Windows app. It had a delay so it wouldn't even show until 0.5 seconds had elapsed - if the operation completed in that time, you never saw the pop-up. Once the dialog appeared it would stay on scre

Yes, but at least you'll have charts to tell you how far down the drain you've gone.

I've had two of those just last week. Like they think I'm scared of spiders? As far as I'm concerned, if a spider is finding enough to eat it's doing me a favor.

This is why I refuse to install apps on my phone. The companies will push and prod you to install their app, but it isn't worth it. I could have had a free hamburger from Burger King recently, but you had to order it through their ap

As long as they don't lose the Colonel, they can't screw up too bad. And since the actual Colonel Sanders has been dead for years and replaced by a cartoon, he's now immortal.

There's definitely a connection between overused and reviled, but I don't think one causes the other. Do people hate on Trajan for example?

I loved the link to the SNL skit. Agree it's a fantastic performance by Ryan Gosling. The funniest part for me though is how it ended with Comic Sans, the only font in the universe more reviled than Papyrus.

I had a 2007 4Runner; I got the recall notices. I ignored them because I knew they were not getting to the root of the problem and were just trying to wallpaper over it.
