A good text editor with intellisense and refactoring is all most developers need. Unfortunately this beast don't exists so we're stuck with VS/Eclipse/etc for static typed languages. At least they should try to make IDEs more modular so the

It means they bought LucasArts too. Not that LucasArts were great in the last decade or so but Disney sucks as a "parent" for game dev companies (RIP Blackrock).

There are 2 big problems with the Windows Store submission right now: - it takes a LOT of time to get a answer. From my experience it took 2 weeks (working days) until i got a answer back. - they don't list at first submission ALL of the re

Win 8 is a better OS than Win 7. Sensibly faster, proper multi monitor support, lots of cool improvements (explorer, task manager etc). It's sad that most people can't see behind Metro. Press Winkey +D on that start screen and start enjoyin

Let's be clear on 1 thing. WinRT IS a (right now pretty bad and incomplete) alternative to Win32 (sure WinRT is implemented using Win32 but that is simply to reuse code). The WinRT implementation doesn't have anything to do with the scope

Isn't it enough to take down the DNS servers to make TPB unusable for sharing (at least to add new torrents) ? Achieving fault tolerance using a few cloud providers is nice (and expensive) but they're still far from raid proof (all it takes

"No Start button" Great thing actually. Instead of hitting start and fumbling with the mouse to find a certain app, you just start typing the app name, press Enter and done. "Start-up screen is kind of overwhelming and inefficient". The ne

Actually Win 8 is a great OS (from my personal point of view is Ms best OS so far). So saying no one wants it it a stretch.

Just want to say that not adding a "boot to desktop" option (and working to actually disable the task scheduler trick which enabled boot to desktop) was a dick move. As a keyboard only user, Win 8 doesn't mean anything to me because i basi

The friggin Windows Store is optional. Nobody is forcing you to use it if you don't want to. The "platform" is just as open as it was before.

I'm from Romania. Coding in your native language is likely used as a safeguard....it means it will be very hard to outsource the product :) . Coding in your native language on a OSS project is even worse.

Technically. In reality WinRT is missing A LOT of stuff from WPF (heck WinRT doesn't even reach parity with Silverlight). Simple stuff la x:Static, x:Array are not available. WinRT 1.0 is basically a subset of Silverlight with a few specifi

If you're doing an "ambitious" type system, you might as well do your own VM. Trying to shoehorn stuff into jvm/clr/parrot/whatever is hardly ideal.
