There are some features that are supported, but there's a long way to go before V8 supports the whole standard.

Those were index terms that weren't properly parsed by asciidoc. Should be better now.

Only if you feel you want to go over that material again, in a more up-to-date format, and with better/more example projects. If you've already mastered JS and web development, the new edition probably won't teach you anythin

Yes, that's something I planned but haven't gotten around to yet. (Not very clever to leave it after the big announcement, I suppose.)

There will be one. I haven't gotten around to all the fiddly parts involved in producing a good-looking ebook yet.

It'll have a single bonus chapter. But the current text, as it is online, already takes up 390 pages when typeset in No Starch's house style.

I considered (and actually started writing) an extra chapter on ES6, but the current state of the standard is poorly documented and still in flux. Also, it's a huge standard, so it'd have taken two or three chapters at least to

If you choose a suitably expensive hashing algorithm (I don't know if the author did), brute forcing is not practical.

I have no idea where browsers display that, and if you require obscure browser feature or source reading for people to find out the date, you are putting undue obstacles in their way.

If you mean an HTTP header, no, that doesn't work, since you never know whether the thing you get there is an accident or an actually meaningful value. Putting it somewhere where it doesn't stand out is acceptable. What annoys me

Every work has a time context. Even if it takes 100 years for it to become irrelevant, it is still useful for people to be able to find out when it was written. Books need a year, pdfs of scientific articles need a publication date. Doing y

Does anyone have numbers handy on the amount of size linking LLVM would add to a browser? Installing llvm-3.2-dev gives me over 75mb of static libraries, but I don't know how many of those would need to be shipped to support such a JIT

You're being downvoted for displaying a primitive tribal attitude about proglangs, not because there's a grand Clojure conspiracy working against you.

Ignoring some of the more ridiculous excesses, child safety measures are a balance that, obviously, shift as society becomes more risk-averse (puts a higher value in lives and safety). I enjoyed a very free childhood. One of my friends, in

I, for one, am amazed that this would need justification at all. (And that half the comments here seem to be saying that devs should 'just learn English'.) Languages with many speakers have their own 'world'. Kids, and p

My experience is that vector-based structs don't perform as well as 'real' structs do (the compiler isn't able to infer their type or the type of their content, has to do bounds checking for every access, etc), and occas

- There are still no structs/objects/whatever, so you're stuck using lists for everything. Real lisps grew out of that long ago. - The compiler really isn't very effective, so doing expensive things is often tricky and
