I've tried a lot of build systems but IMHO CMake is the only one where you can get away with just using CMake and the platforms target compiler. The rest includes additional pain points, more stuff to set up and configure. What's

It's also one of the most problematic thing at the same time since getting the generators set up properly to output IDE usable stuff for a project that e.g. needs to be usable in IDEs on Windows, macOS and Linux is very time-consuming.

S3 is Amazon. In some cases you want to exert control over your state without being dependent on external parties. Currently Terraform Enterprise is the only approach to solving that and its a good one but... only if you're one of the

As someone using Terraform from it's first release on I still think that Terraform has one fundamental flaw: It always looks at things using provider specific resource, while IMHO it should just expose a bunch of predefined resource ty

I'd like to add one thing to this: Heartbleed also went unnoticed because the OpenSSL code ad build process was in such a state that simply looking at it, and having to build it costs an insane amount of effort. So if you truly want to

Business models of all big software companies are identical and have not changed in decades: You buy licenses, renew them yearly. With various levels of premium support to select from.

Canonical would be a target mainly because of most - if not all cloud products - primarily run on Ubuntu. Cloud Native products literally do not care for RHEL/SuSE and the like for a rather large portion but just give you Ubuntu. Also,

Why would anyone want to use this over Dragonfly, which seems to have way more battle testing? Is this another case of NIH?

The interesting thing here is that Vault and Terraform Enterprise will probably be the ones for making money where the rest is their form of advertisement. It's just that only Vault is ready and Terraform Enterprise is taking way too l

I had to check twice if I hibernated and it was April 1st. TL;DR IBM just bought a controlling interest in almost every Linux based system on the planet, and thus all the big companies making money with Open Source.

From practical experience, I would say Azure is a moving target currently. Things beyond virtual machine and networks feel like moving targets. For the sectors you cited that might not matter since those will not be using cloud resources bu

Why worry about that? Has anyone ever solved the chicken-and-egg problem in it? Can it even be solved? Seriously, is there any other approach from declaring a new egg as new baseline chicken?

Wouldn't the fact that passing resource to modules works in 0.12 help with the mass exodus of output variables for modules? What is time-intensive in terms of deploys? It has been my experience with tens of providers that the time loss

Never be bound to a single cloud provider. Ever. Same as before the cloud, whatever is important shall have multiple vendors offering it. Terraform is a) reliable and b) allows for 1-n providers. It's not just custom AWS, it's cus

As a long-term user (2014/2015), I shall say this is nice but... it is kind of late. I always wondered why Terraform Enterprise / Atlas was in its simple incarnation a tool to be used in CI/CD tooling in form of a containeriz

Is that realistic to test thousands of packages in two weeks? Automated build tests are everywhere anyway and more than that is not done for Manjaro as well. The real testers here are probably Arch users having access to these updates weeks

You did not read as well. The only question I asked was if you could fake the ext4 using docker. Nothing else. The rest does not have a question mark. You answered a question I did never ask.
