It's a bit sad to have to look outside the standard stack for good solutions to this, but I've had great results with JRebel. The rapid iteration it brings to java easily pays for itself almost immediately, if nothing else than in not havin

I think he's referring to a hostile script trying to bind to keydown -- usually you shove the banners in iframes to limit this possibility when you include external untrusted content. I assume the same holds true here, though.

Depends on your use case. If you're trying to find an issue in Java code running on an app server somewhere where you're not allowed to update code (say, if you work in B2B and it's a customer site), being able to remote debug does wonders.

I think you're reading that wrong. OP asks for a ST build for Linux/ARM (i.e. an executable that works on that platform).

While total worship is crazy, it feels just as unbalanced to say that Steve's only quality was a toggle-switch on his charisma. Maybe I'm reading what you're trying to say uncharitably though.

That's in the Android SDK right? So you don't need to agree to that, and you can still fork off the Android code and build your own toolchain?

The nice thing about it is that it allows you to break out of nesting hell while still being prototyped... e.g. window.setTimeout(this.foo.bind(this), baz); Since .bind is essentially currying, you could imaginably do window.setTimeout(this

For my particular use case, IE8 is not an issue, but sure, a shim is like three lines, and we did use that before (when IE8 was an issue).

No but this is still bound at call time, so `self` will be foo in foo.play() just as this, so that's basically the same thing + a standard variable assignment to get the setTimeout working. On a sidenote, I'm trying to get away from using s

Based on the article alone, it seems that the SV foundation focuses on managing donations for both local and global projects, and not only in the Bay Area?

After working as a pm, I feel I know a bit of what he's getting at. The appealing solution to scope creep/misalignment/doubt mid-development is to compromise and make everyone happy; Stakeholders, developers, your boss. This keeps people ha

Isn't this what denotes an era or school of design/architecture/art though, like realism, romanticism, bauhaus, modernism, industrialism, etc? Changes in the approach and visual style. In a sense, this is creating a language to talk about U

The server has nothing to do, pe se, with pushState. That just manipulates the client. If on reload/next visit, you don't want the link to break (which seems like a reasonable requirement), just set up a route in whatever web server you're

It doesn't feel very inflammatory, just re-iterating a point that to some seems very contentious, that the composition of separate parts Apple does is innovation. Anyway, I very much like JLG and I liked and agree with the articles push.

To counterpoint, haven't we been down that road before? XMPP, OpenSocial, etc. To be fair, it's market powers and network stickiness rather than abstract social or technical merit that have kept Facebook the incumbent. And for someone to de

Meh, is anyone else getting tired of this constant debugger hating? A debugger is a tool, just like printf or heap dump inspectors. It's a tool that you use to elucidate or falsify your perception of the execution environment of your code.

So you had 500m reads on a relatively static data set + 5m writes on an unrelated log? Sounds like a fun problem, but I agree I doesn't sound like rocket science. On the other hand, it also doesn't sound like Twitter, having 400m writes per
