I like the open-world aspect, but you’re right it’s often paired with what is commonly called “grind”, which I despise. So in practice, the open world I enjoy are those focussed purely on discovery like The Witness, and metroidvania games l

Where does that logic end? Doesn’t that mean Putin just keeps going and going because we’re frightened?

by marcosscriven 2y ago
If Putin just rolled in and took a couple of the states of the USA, you think it would be a “stupid war” for the USA to defend itself?

Brit here. What freedom do you think I don’t have, that you as an American does?

How does this compare to Authy? I use Bitwarden and have been very frustrated with their UI changes.

There’s a very strange ad running in the UK for Apple Intelligence. It features an employee writing an email to his boss in extremely poor language, and then magically making it clear and professional with Apple Intelligence. What’s odd to

I don’t play this game, but my partner does. I sometimes see him “spectating” a player that is below the ground - regardless of if the client is hacked/cheating, aren’t there some server-side checks that the player state is valid?

This is fascinating. I've seen papers and demos on such implicit surfaces before (quite possibly yours), and while it's impressive what models one can build up with some imagination, I'd love to see something more than toy ex

This was always the upsetting thing about Eurostar/Eurotunnel between UK and France. In my naive teens I dreamt of how wonderful it would be if we joined Shengen and could literally just hop on the train to Paris. But sadly we went the

Who do you get energy from? Octopus Tracker is currently 15p, and not been over 19p for months. A few days in December it was down to 7p.

Proxmox is good for this. You can have a Windows VM with GPU passthrough. Then you can add any other VMs or LXCs to your heart’s content.

This doesn’t match up to my experience playing on Quest 3. Certainly I see better quality for lower bandwidth, but the client side decoding actually adds more latency at the point it actually looks better the HEVC.

What router are you using with 6E that supports this? Or is it a DIY thing with a WiFi card?
111.
by marcosscriven 3y ago
I really want a 6E router that can run this. Only options right now are one that’s expensive and not readily available, and the other is a rebranded Zyxel one only available via a Norwegian ISP.

I specifically went to Sheerness to go and see the UK’s only scorpion population. A local copper saw me, asked what I was doing, and offered to get his massive UV light out of his car. Saw quite a few! But yes, otherwise all rather run down

What I’d really love to do is limit memory by Java thread, rather than per process. Allowing things like job runners to not crowd out others.

I definitely think there should be a way to attach tags to a family. Like the original article I use one in my dog. I know it’s not the purported use, but it has and does work for us.
