Caused us quite the embarrassment as we weren't paying attention. (I blame my wife and mother in law.... Of course).

It really did surprise me that I can only recall one or two cases of people not actually lining up properly. I think that, more than anything else, showed to me the huge difference between the Japanese culture compared to Australian.

For my wife and her friends: yes, she knows exactly how long it takes her to walk to the station and will leave with only a minute to spare for the train to arrive. I can't do that, I always worry I'll be delayed somehow haha

There are schedules for the subways, but also a very high frequency for trains. Off the top of my head, during busy hours for me going towards Tokyo there would be a train every 5-8 minutes. (And there are multiple lines, although I'm

Careful though, some areas (Tokyo and south), you stand on the left and move on the right. Caused my wife and I a fair bit of confusion one holiday(we live near Yokohama).

This I can confirm, a work friends family had to pay for the cleanup and delay room when her brother committed suicide via train. I'm not in Japan at the moment so I can't ask the figure, but I believe it was in the region of 10-2

I can't give you a link to official figures, but from living there 6 years I can answer a few questions. Suicide: by train isn't uncommon, but if they have to delay one line, there are similar lines people can use to route around

Freedom of speech and religion destroyed by letting two men or women cement their bond to each other? Mate you need to take a few steps back, and a long look at that statement.

I am extremely happy this passed. Although I was shocked when I came back to Aus a few weeks ago and saw some of the no adverts. I had hoped for a higher % but at least there is no doubt now.(not that there ever should have been, but oh wel

"Owning and running a restaurant is very different from working at one, right?". Not if you have worked in a restaurant as a high level employee(eg exec chef) for quite a while. (Exec chef here, 17 years experience)

While I disagree with the idea of people not wanting to shop for their ingredients, as a chef, I cannot help but get behind anyone that wants to learn how to cook. For the record I believe you have the nail on the head, as to the value of t

As a chef I'll never use a service such as this, but I can certainly see the value. Have you seen what most people eat when single, and just want some food? It's abhorent. I have more than a few bachelor friends(or those that use

I think it's more to set a 'tone' to an article, and I do not particularly dislike it. Sometimes using a more formal tone in writing can be a nice change, and give an article a more through out perview from the reader.

I, personally, believe such writing styles are used to give tone to an article. For example, for this article I found myself reading it at a slower pace than usual, attempting to piece the facts in with the time period, as it were. As such

Liquidity, I'm sorry didn't you invest in that company? If you can find a buyer for that percentage, okay cool, but nothing about investing should revolve around if you need liquidity all of a sudden.

What I see from this is a while bunch of hand waving to say that 'there are a whole bunch of people between you and x business', despite the fact you can directly purchase their shares(which they offered to gain temporary income t
