Apple has a bigger developer base but they are captive users. I'm not saying swift isn't good, but nobody actually chooses to use it. They use because it is the language for making iDevice apps. The problem is that if people are o

It is reasonable to assume that anybody writing code is using the US keyboard layout. That is the de facto standard and standards are important. Anybody who deviates from that is doing so at their own risk. If you want to use Dvorak or Azer

Java has genetics and it is many times more popular than Go. I'm not sure absolute adoption of Go is a good way of divining programmers opinions on genetics.

Yes the USA commits human rights abuses. But this is a thread about China, and we shouldn't stop criticising China just because the US does something bad too. PRC does lack proper civil society, and it all started with Mao and his cult

In the long term plaintext SNI is going away. I'm not convinced that France can implement such a system much faster than TLS WG can thwart it. Also while some US cloud providers might cooperate I doubt that in particular Cloudflare wou

There's no such thing as blocking a site. You can direct DNS providers to block DNS, which doesn't help for anyone using Firefox. You can direct ISPs to block an IP but then you have hard decisions when the site you want to block

This is just reflective of inequality. I don't know about China specifically but in other asian countries that I know, most locals buy their ingredients at the market, and grocery stores target richer less price-conscious consumers. So

It's possible that over the long term it could be backed up via torrents. However, in the short term the only way to save the archive is for IA to sell it. I hope they swallow their pride and do so.
