I haven't seen the OP yet...are you saying the OP is not worth it and recommending these other links?

Claude.ai and Claude Desktop are the main non developer MCP clients. ChatGPT has limited MCP support as of now (read only use cases with deep research) but the expectation is that full MCP support might be dropping soon.

Claude Code with current IDE integration is already very good. Only thing missing is completion that Cursor is pretty good at.

And they said "it's over" millions of times. What they mean is the exponential expectations are done.

Yeah I don't even see the point of this. There's enough MCP clients now and the whole point of MCP is to make tools available to any LLM that can use tools.

You get enterprise contracts that forbid them from doing that. The tools like Cursor have privacy mode that ensure that. Lots of enterprises use Azure, GCP, AWS for the models for these reasons as well.

It's an old project from before the current AI buzz and I rejected this when I looked at it few years back as well with similar reasons. My opinion about Netflix OSS has been pretty low as well.

Microsoft (claims) does that already. Their pitch is for people to use the main VSCode marketplace.

Comparison should be with Claude API pricing. It doesn't matter what other models cost.

If open models become big, open coding agents would be bigger at that point. Even more motivation as well.

That's tablestakes at this point. If Zed is not doing it, it's far behind others like Ampcode and rest.

Almost no client, including Claude Dekstop, implements Sampling. I was so excited to see if I can create a server that used sampling and quickly figured out I can't use it anywhere. Funnily Windsurf hangs forever if you use sampling.

Yup this is what the tools response for the mcp server looks like: { tools: [ 0: { name: "factor" description: "Factor an integer" inputSchema: { ... } 4 items } ] }

We (dare I say we instead of I) like talking to computers and AI is another computer you talk with. So I am still all excited. It's people that I want to avoid :)

And with themselves and their models. The Codex open source had prompt to disambiguate it from the model.
