These kind of fundamental methods in computer vision are commonly called "image processing". "Computer vision" typically refers to computations that have an interpretative component (image analysis), i.e. programs that a

What are the key reasons someone should go to Steem rather than to some existing social platform? Steem will likely be slower and the barriers to contribute will likely be higher. Secondly, do you think it is a good basis for building commu

Unfortunately, the most environmentally friendly phone is still a horrible polluter because it is purposefully built to justify an upgrade each year, as required to survive in our beautiful free market.

Come on now. The advantage of multiple cursors is instant feedback by cycling through the cursors and observing all the changes in real-time and by being able to undo changes and interactively adapt to the observed problems, without havin

Humans consume 0.7-1.3 kW per capita. A network of these chips scaled to human brain capacity would consume around 10 kW. It is really not a big difference. Our robot overlords are going to be quite efficient!

On the other hand, one can possibly steer the evolution towards a direction that enables general intelligence to evolve. In nature there are many local minima due to biological constraints (body weight, cranium size, birth channel size, pre

The main objective function in nature is very simple though: maximize the number of copies of your genes. Such an objective enforced in a resource-constrained multi-agent world (as suggested in the slides) could really lead to quite complex

Are there any concrete attempts at transferring this concept to MLPs? E.g. by overriding the values of particular nodes/features by feedback connections?

Is it in particular the dot product (correlation) in MLPs that prevents them from inferring all causal structures in the data? So, instead of template matching of co-occurrences of features in the layer below, we (also) need to learn whethe
