Just support QWERTY but allow the user to remap everything. Even among programmers, the share of people that use alt layouts is so small that is not worth your time.

Why does it have to be mutually exclusive? The thread is about Israel, so they're pointing out Israel's crimes. You can be critical of multiple governments simultaneously.

I agree. My point is that you can't objectively define readibility, so it will always be a matter of preference. I've met my share of Go developers that think it is very readable. I personally can't stand it.

That's subjective. Readability is one of Go's goals. Whether they achieved it depends on your preference.

Any post criticising V is seen as toxic by their supporters, apparently. You can see many examples of this in this thread.

I still don't see how you can determine an object's attributes without type information. If you're inside the function, all you know is there's a parameter named item. How can you provide autocomplete there? All of the e

How would a "language engine" know what you can do with `item` if it has no type information? You can do that with Python (sometimes) because many libraries have type hints today, so even if you don't use types yourself, the

Why do you keep saying "competitors"? Do you really think every V detractor in this thread has their own pocket language they want to shill for at V's expense? I don't think that's the case. I believe most people ju

I'm in way over my head here, but in your painting example, the thief would steal the object, not the ownership proof. In the Ape case, the NFT is the owernship proof, so it's like the thief stole whatever document said you owned

I understand that. I was talking about the high-level idea of using RAII to manage memory. Parent was talking as if that was unique to C++, while Rust also has it and does it better, for the reasons you stated. Rust defaulting to move-seman

That's an interesting point. It's much easier to correct a stranger on the Internet, but it's also harder to be kind. Comments that manage to do both (like GP) are great, and I always like to see them.

It's stupid to say this, but I think I work better with just one screen. The temptation to put Slack and email on the second screen and have too many things going on at once is too great. Using a single screen (the MBP display) makes i

If you don't, the Rust version will be moving the Arc, but the C++ version will be copying the shared_ptr. To make both versions comparable, you must either use Arc::clone on Rust, or use std::move on C++.

How is std::unique_ptr different from Rust's Box? Everything you said applies to Rust. Also, I definitely would not call std::unique_ptr (or Box) a GC.

Being independent doesn't work, but you should strive to become dependent only on parties that can be expected to be reasonably rational. A democratic country is expected to be more rational than an autocratic one. The EU was naive in

I think you're missing the point. People who say that are talking about messy code that needs clarification from comments – those cases likely need to be rewritten to be clearer. This is entirely unrelated to _why_ the code does what i

ETL: dumb data warehouse. You do your own transform before inserting the data. ELT: smart data warehouse. You dump the raw data and transform in the data warehouse later. Or, DWH is just storage vs DWH is storage + transform.
