US PhD programmes include the MSc before the PhD proper. Given that the UK MSc is mostly taught, it lines up with the timeline described by the author (1 year of coursework followed by 4 years of research).

It doesn't. You're expected to do BSc -> MSc -> PhD. There are some undergrad programmes that give BSc + MSc, though.

> If that is brute force, so is binary search. Binary search is guaranteed to find the target if it exists, so it's not a heuristic. GA isn't, as it can get stuck in local minima. However, I agree that GA isn't brute force

Sorry, I can't find a relationship between Sundials and PyO3/Maturin. Am I missing something?

Because it changes all the time. A few weeks ago, it was Gemini 2.5 Pro, then Claude Opus 4.1, GPT-5 Thinking, now maybe Claude Sonnet 4.5, etc[1]. Having a good model isn't enough when they're basically interchangeable now. You n

We should have a new HN rule: don't post comments that are mostly LLM summaries. It's 2025's LMGTFY.

If you think "democratically elected politicians" are the ruling class in Western "democracies", you haven't been paying attention.

The American "democracy" also sucks. Just ask anyone in Latin America who had to live under US-backed dictatorships, or those in Middle Eastern countries that were destabilised or destroyed by American influence. Or the immigrants

If purity is a requirement for "real" functional programming, then OCaml or Clojure aren't functional. Regarding totality, even Haskell has partial functions and exceptions.
