A subset of markdown (since you can use html in markdown) might be a good candidate.

I don't think expressif steals from ST. I m quite sure GD steals from ST (source: ST themselves, see answer from ST in https://www.th3dstudio.com/2021/08/03/gd32-cpu-license-issue... )

No, this was my remark about being compatible.

I've also definitely seen it reference invented methods on APIs (that would have been very nice if they existed) - that no past or future version implemented.

Depends if you want to condone IP theft (compatible independent developments is of course different but I'm not sure this is the case). R&D, Support, good documentation in English and accuracy of specs come at a price.

Inkscape is not really "confined" to svg, because saving to pure svg is lossy. Only svg with extra specific inkscape metadata is lossless- clearly legit svg, but with specific bits under the "sodipodi" namespace IIRC. Ed

MIDI as a non-proprietary, non-patented, non ad supported or privacy invasive protocol opened so many innovation from synth and others electronic musical instruments constructors or makers. We really need this type of candid innovation back

With enough context, is this a job that could be replaced by an AI ? Of course there is the question of who will supervise and legal responsibilities.

One of the solution for this would be to pay them more, by example with direct aid (coming from carbon taxes). They will then be able to chose better products or higher quality ones.

I don't have a twitter account, so I don't see the whole thread. I suppose the thread is itself interesting ; Is there a way for people like me to understand the context?

I understand having a popular widget is important, but I always fail to see why this is important when you have the simpler checkbox ? what is enabled by the toggle widget ?

Most people couldnt care less with sub par video message security for most (not all) uses. The fact that every vendor want anything but a good standard stack for keeping their users captive is imo a more powerful incentive.

Depends on your target; if you have tiny compilation units you won't be able to optimize /inline on a broad target, that's why single unit compilation is an option (that may or may not improve the resut)

That is definitely true, but from the article it's the backend that takes time, not the frontend where the language itself resides. If you compile go from llvm, it maybe as long as rust.

I'm a cheapo, I'd use a ch32v003 an stm8 or a modern attiny ;) or maybe a stm32 with 128k of flash and a dac and would compress the audio.. much more choices now ! Speech synthesis on a cheap mcu would be awesome

I should have mentioned that the project is 11 years old (2012) so things were a but different (rpi were just out, no Chinese padauk-like 5cts microcontrollers but also attinys were less expensive pre covid !) And yes it uses a 512k flash

Interesting take from the git repo: some files were committed 25years ago ! See by example https://github.com/tnalpgge/rank-amateur-cowsay/blob/master/...

Thermodynamics sometimes say that you can't. Also, if I can mine $x coins for y energy, I will generate a bit more of $money and remove natural resources. Value of coins may not keep their value in 2000 years, but co2 ppm/ecosyste

OK but natural resources are unlikely to grow. Unregulated market forces lead to hell (and of course also is too much regulation)

This would not allow the previous errors to be checked by the compiler since the main thing you're relying on is the name. Nothing prevents you to call deleted(mutable) and discard the result apart from the name.
