iOS 12.5.6 was released in August to address a security vuln for the 5s, 6, etc. The 5s debuted Sept 2013 as the first 64-bit phone, and the first phone with a Secure Enclave, so I'm kind of hopeful they'll just keep limping it al

It's thoughtful, but clearly deputizing your own property against you is not a premise people are comfortable with.

If they styled the "let me read first" to be more `democratic' (i.e. easier to scan for) I'd have 0 complaints. Maybe also as a button with an hr to separate it from the email form.

Pessimism is an indulgence–it's like some kind of bastardized emotional protection system, and I refuse to resign myself in that way.

No. Medium is bloated trash with dark patterns; Substack has always loaded quickly for me and has transparent monetization. I expect this to remain the case because they do cool things like provide legal support for their customers https:&

Keep in mind 30 seconds watched counts as a view. Might buffer 3 minutes of video in that time, but hardly any of those views are the full video.

It's only natural. Expressions convey a lot; they drive curiosity and makes the content seem more important to watch ("what made them make that face?"). I avoid any and all videos using the tactic because it feels crude, tho.

Apple provides security updates far longer than Android does. They continue to patch the first 64-bit phone and the first phone with a dedicated secure enclave: the iPhone 5s, released 9 years ago.

iOS 12.5.6 was released on a week ago. iOS 15 will be getting patches even if iOS 14 and 13 don't.

DJI hosts robot design competitions in China, where the brightest brains compete to pour the foundations of future weapon platforms. I'm of the opinion technology can move too fast, and giving money to DJI is fuelling that fire.
