This is actually a big thing for me, even though you can auto generate with IDEs, Java feels very verbose, even when using the Stream operators. I just learned C# 2 years back and it opened my eyes to basically Java with less boilerplate. N

Sonarr/Radarr/Lidarr/Readarr are all open source CRUD apps written in C# (they all fork from Sonarr). Kavita (my open source) app is open source C#/ASP.NET (but probably not a good learning source as I coded while I lear

I build open source software, I have one project with nearly 2k stars. It is a product itself and used by thousands of people. I do this while also holding a job as open source doesn't pay (although I do have donations). I've alwa

ASP.NET/C#. Why? Performant, straightforward, quick to build scalable, cross platform apps. I learned it 2 years ago and now absolutely love it (.net 5+, old stuff isn't as fun).

That just depends on how the client consumes it. I'm the developer of Kavita and our reader doesn't download the epub at all. We read one page of the epub and rewrite the html and send it to the UI to be rendered. This way it load

Boox and Kubo have nice readers. I have a Boox Poke and it's pretty nice e-ink that isn't too expensive. I personally just use a Kindle Fire 10 HD for reading though.

Music to my ears! I built an open source application for reading books and comics and mobi has been a huge pain as there aren't many libraries out there that support it, let alone that are cross platforms for all the architectures/

I feel you 100% on this. I wish I could use something like Discord for work as it has nested threads, channels, etc all in an intuitive way. Right now, my main teams are using "Teams" instead of Chat and everything is so painful t

This is how I am as well. I just enjoy it. I personally make it a point to not monetize coding outside of work hours as I feel it would spoil my main hobby.

I build and maintain one larger open source application currently, although am pretty adamant on releasing my side projects under an open source license. For me, I spend copious time working on it or engaging with my users purely to improve

I could only get it to work when I was out of the house, but inside, it never connected. You can ask on their Github for support, but I wasn't able to solve even with their help.

I'm in the same boat, I actually like Plex, but want a truly open source solution so we can keep up to date with FFMPEG and a more clear roadmap. But in the 2 years I've been following, I haven't seen much improvement. They a

Haha I tried this last week with PWAs, but they weren't able to provide the level of control I needed to achieve literally this idea. So it looks like native-ish code is in my future for iOS and Android :( But you can download files an

Calibre is a powerhouse of an application. It is built for people that want really in-depth metadata curtailing and exploration. Kavita is not that. At the moment, in terms of metadata Kavita is pretty limited. The current release is adding

Interesting, I'll have to look into that as well. I have a lot of platforms that I have to support, so utilizing tools can be problematic. I'm sure that's why send to email is so popular (and it's easy to implement).

Can you elaborate or create an issue on Github? I primarily use Firefox and haven't noticed anything. We support OPDS for consumption, but not for consuming content. I have some loose plans to support upstream sites/sources, but n

I think Ubooquity is probably your best bet. But it's no longer maintained and has some issues with larger libraries due to how the library scan is implemented.

I'm curious how you achieve this? Is it similar to Calibre-web's Send to device? Or did you code the conversions yourself (or are you using an external service) and emailing the file? Are you also providing the reading experience
