I still struggle to understand what they actually do. Did they have a product before the acquisition? Or patents? The publications page is a bit more telling, but still, nothing concrete: http://deepmind.com/publications.h

Maybe detecting QI is actually hard? You need a buffer of TCP data, that was possibly already passed to application. 1) Is there a kernel patch yet? 2) "HoneyBadger is a passive TCP protocol analyzer whose only purpose in life is to de

Native client is more of a browser plugin thing. VX32 is much more of a reusable library for sandboxing. I wish nacl API was as simple to use as vx32!

Wouldn't a temporary "iptables -j REJECT" had been easier? Or even maybe "iptables -m condition --condition <> -j REJECT", which would mean you could control the reject by "echo 1 > file". Then a

Sure, with old syntax you can do it as well: >>> print('%(language)s has %(number)03d quote types.' % ... {'language': "Python", "number": 2})

Call me an old timer, but I struggle to understand what's the point of the new format. Sure, it has more features. But is it worth the transition? The old format is: - pretty compatible with C - therefore well documented, well understo

I use it all the time. I've encountered more bugs with -O0 and lack of -O at all, than with explicit -O3. My experience is with gcc.

Totally. Throughput is an enemy of latency. If you have some other applications on that RX queues or CPU's you can't expect any latency numbers.

What about dependencies? Setuptools assume all is in place. That's why you need pip/virtualenv. So with that you expect your host to have all the stuff. Virtualenv installs some .so files in its thing, so venv directory is tightly

I'll use the opportunity to moan about the state of packaging in the Python world. Why, after so many years, there is no way for me to ship software written in python, in deb format? I end up doing some real crazy stuff: * build in doc

TCP != UDP. In TCP recv() gives you a buffer. In UDP recv() gives you a packet. Good luck receiving 50k pps of UDP packets, doing some processing and _sending_ 50k pps responses back. It actually is hard.

I have no idea. How many UDP packets can FreeBSD pass to application? I don't think there is any particular problem with Linux. The core problem of "slow" performance is mostly due to limitations of BSD API (recvmmsg is a goo
