Yes, but I don't know if you're talking about the C++ (templates and constexpr's & whatnot) or the C preprocessor. Macros? Get rid of those and you kill my logging solution.

Pre-2000, I remember most questions revolved around data structures. Linked lists, hash tables and various trees & such. For my line of work, it's critical to know. The "you're one inch tall and stuck in a blender...&quot

Reminds me of the Future Crew demo that used similar techniques to emulate "thousands" of colors on a 256 color display. Very unimpressive in YouTube videos. Amazing on a CRT.

Oh. I used SWIG to automate a lot of that. It'll build the wrappers for you. The upside with it is that you don't have to wait for package maintainers to update your bindings.

I was thinking of something like NASA vs Farmville. Two left joins doesn't make a strong database case. If you're willing to throw mapreduce at everything as a solution, you won't need Oracle nor will you know how to take adv

SAP bought Sybase. It's the parent of MSSQL, by Microsoft. Look, free databases are great, they just can't compete for real serious use. Not WordPress. More like NYSE.

Oracle is worth every penny that they charge. Unless you've worked with it, you won't understand the love / hate relationship toward it. Yes. It costs money. Why? Because it does so many things that nothing else comes close t

Management is difficult and effective managers are rare. Really good ones can burn out quickly. Employees don't always appreciate how stressful the responsibility, long hours, and drudgery can be. My $0.02.
