Using another language that has tooling problems & slow compile speeds, I can understand why that alone would make you not want to use it anymore. After a certain point all of the advantages of the ecosystem starts going away if compile

For me it's mostly a few minor UX things, such as not displaying favicons, or how it behaves with a lot of tabs. Also it's extension ecosystem isn't that great. Stuff like ublock isn't in the official safari extensions

Long commutes and rush hour also sucks in low density suburban america too. I think a lot of the bad sides of high density living for people are unwanted solicitors, bad/old non-soundproofed housing and insecure shipping receiving.

How about all the embedded engineers who go on to become RoR engineers because it pays much better? Google is probably willing to train people too, which might be a difference for you. C++ isn't that fun of a language compared to oth

Hipchat goes terribad in a 20k organization . In things like only delivering pushes to your phone sometimes or getting chat room history when you open the app. I dont know how slack performs in a similar situation.

Having the official authority to do something can just make things a lot faster. People may agree with you, but will want to check with their manager first anyway. If you have title authority, then they don't need to 'check with

Discord missed an opportunity a year or two ago to become something like slack for large companies. Hipchat's perf is horrible and slack couldn't scale to +20k users a year ago. Managing a mattermost instance requires staff and

Most of this crap comes from the compiler / sourcekit itself, which is a major part of the language. It has scalability problems.

Aha! You haven't hit the LOC barrier that starts to make swift & xcode/source kit act like bsaul described. At around 100kloc you will start to get that experience with swift. While an equivalent 100-200kloc line app writte

It's pretty funny. You get the same tax load in most of canada compared to california, yet the tax laws have far less gotchas like these and you get universal health care. The canada gotcha's are: 1. Everything is more expensive.

Employment law also makes it harder to hire employees. Every employee hire in places like Germany and such are huge risks to small corps, since it's very hard to fire bad employees who are net negatives, and they know it and abuse it.
