If you used GET for the username parameter, it would show up in the URL & encourage cut-and-paste virality.

You're complaining about the DSL but have no issue with varnish as kernel module ? First thing I do with a production system is build it a new kernel, with a tight feature list, and disable modules.

My Galaxy Tab replaced my laptop at home. It's a ten inch ipad killer, open as your mother's arms, and makes phone calls. It's both wifi AND 3G. Costs sub-$300 in Australia. Fits snuggly in my jacket pocket and plays flash (when i absolutel

Prolog is awesome as a library, embedded in another "normal" language. Prolog as a culture is amazing; the depth of it, specially when it's submerged in other disciplines, like constraint logic programming. But, standalone, as a language, b

What do you mean fewer features? Intents are how everything is done. Android is basically four major components: Activities, Intents, ContentProviders and Services (Views are not really a components, just a nice hack which uses reflection &

Intents are an open messaging system. The fact that they use java package names shows you they're meant to be user-extensible and infinite. Compare this to the bit-packing retardedness that is the Win32 message crackers[1]. Commercial softw

You might need to factor out the TASM code hidden in pragmas in SETMODE.H first. Better yet, remove all asm and retarget for something less arcane, like Allegro or even SDL. If you want to keep it as is, Turbo C is free online, from Borland

Uhh, not same reasons. Harper is an ML hacker, he wants to avoid IFs to encourage generic programming and pattern matching. Adding a new branch to an if clause requires some nesting, adding a branch to a case/cond is just one entry of many.

I was speaking specifically of the United States. I don't know of any state in the union that isn't democratic. I know Texas' redistricting shenanigans are sleazy, but it's still a democracy.
