Please don't keep sensitive client data in a spreadsheet on Google, or DropBox. If you must store it in a cloud, at least encrypt it and store it in a locally-encryptable service like JungleDisk.

thanks for this post. i found it heartfelt and insightful, much more so than most of the dribble that crosses my screen daily. the reality is that your dad knew he had to man-up, and being proud of himself and his family was his motivation.

1) Ask Toolbar is about as mild a bundle-in as it gets. 2) You can set Java update mode to manual. 3) Chrome (and possibly another browser) asks permission before using Java on any page, so I consider it a low-risk vector for drive-bys.

Very cool idea! I use <spacebar> and <shift-spacebar> when reading the web; paging up/down is more comfortable for me than scrolling. Kindle is also excellent for reading because it uses distinct pages. I set my text large a

Haters gonna hate, I guess? Mine is set to 4500K nighttime and I hardly notice it changing 4-5pm when the sun goes down. If I'm working on something that requires color accuracy, I use "disable for an hour" or I quit it. So: When it (rarely

This is excellent, but doesn't quite "feel right" when playing. In my opinion, anybody interested in playing Super Mario will remember its distinct feel -- so it will be important to nail down the exact dynamics of running, jumping, fallin

My first concern is security. I see that you say you import "via SSL" into a "secure Slowpal account". Can you elaborate on what makes the Slowpal account secure?

I host a web site for my small community on S3 because it's nearly free to do so and, for such a small site with no server-side programming, it performs better and is more fault tolerant than a cheap VPS.

What's the big deal? $75 for a 17-30K user reach is $0.0044 per user or less. I actually think that's a good deal if you're announcing a new product or important product update.

This is only useful for Chrome Apps (which are meant to run locally on your machine) and will probably not be enabled for any real web surfing. Hosting HTTP on port 80 is probably the least useful real-world sample for this capability.
