Don't forget there are many unpopular (wdsl) and dead (xhtml, e4x) standards out there already. There is absolutely no reason to believe that web components will have a better track record.

The point of React is to make it practical to structure view logic as a function (projection) of the application state. Virtual DOM is just an implementation detail.

Both will continue using typescript/redux/react combo. Scala.js mostly makes sense if you are already familiar with scala, that's hardly surprising.
