Your "new version"-concern is addressed in the third paragraph: Assev said the swell of downloads was above and beyond the increase caused by the final release of Opera 10.5 for Windows yesterday. "We compared the downloads against previou

"* isn't dead, it's just resting" is a reference to Monty Python's famous Dead Parrot skit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vuW6tQ0218 By this the author means that "Ogg isn't bad, it's just different" is essentially a lie, because the au

Assuming it is true, it still does not alter the fact that Ogg is a bad format. Being free from patents does not magically make Ogg a good choice as file format. If all the standard formats are indeed covered by patents, the

Thanks :) I don't really have any experience with any higher level API, so I guess I can not help you there. To me, it is important to know a bit about the inner workings of an API. I guess you could say I prefer to learn bottom-up. This me

Sorry, I am not a native English speaker, but to me it seems the author claims that using Y, you effectively can't do X. This, in contrast to your formulation, means that the effect of certain properties of Y is that X is impossible to ac
