Just installed VS Code with the Vim extension and everything seems to be working pretty well for me, including yy and shift-P. I had to set "vim.useCtrlKeys": true to enable some of the keybinds that override VS Code bindings.

The foundries have been consolidated to a select few, and it's been increasingly difficult for Intel to stay competitive on both the design and fab front. People have been talking about when Intel is going to spin off their fabs (or de

I think the author is missing the forest for the trees, here. Schools often don't have much of a computing curriculum, and these classes are great for improving general programming literacy. And if one kid finds out he really enjoys it

CMU SEI is more or less a separate institution that was founded with government money. Very little relation to the workings of the school, but it's still unfortunate that the work was done under the CMU name.

Instructions Per Second is different from the clock speed. In this case, it looks like each core is ~1 Instruction Per Clock, so 1 * 1.78 GHz * 1000 cores. The trick is that getting 1.78 trillion IPS distributed over 1000 cores is very diff

I think it's totally valid, but I can see how the word 'homemade' could be misleading. All designs nowadays start as HDL, even the ones manufactured at a foundry.

While the research was unfortunately performed under the CMU name, the SEI was more or less founded by the government to do this type of research and is not related to the rest of the school. I wrote to the ethics board about it when the st
