Nonsense. You would catch the person after landing instead of downing an entire plane.

In my understanding, in KataGo, the decision of how long to follow a line is made solely by MCTS via its exploration/exploitation components. These in turn are influence by the policy/value outputs of the DCNN. So in practical ter

It is commonly misunderstood what STM is capable of. It is nowadays known that STM is crap on many levels and can only hold around around 3 items, and unreliably at that. Certainly not 7 as was proposed earlier. Anything beyond that goes in

This is not a proper test for chess memory. The point is that chunking is learned. A strong player has a single entity in their mind that describes a complex pattern. Magnus may have many more of these available than his opponents, letting

I think you'd have to translate the statement into the appropriate space. Here, the unconventional moves would refer to pro-level trick play. These doubtlessly exist, and have for a long time (e.g. secret house moves in joseki 100 year

The statement that the flaw remains is wrong. We included a few cyclical groups in the training data and the flaw disappeared rather quickly. It is even less of an issue after the move to a slightly larger DCNN. The current consensus in the

If your scaling requires you to ignore some laws and regulations, maybe your scaling is just a wet dream that should not become reality, and still attempting it should be punished. It's just the cost of doing business.

Well, a month ago they did not know that insane tariffs are going to exist suddenly. They are telling this pretty much as soon as they could.

Not really a good point. If the order of bytes does not matter, then I can compress any file of your liking to O(log n) size :P

This has nothing to do with computing, it is about memory access.

In data centers/HPC, you need to know which data is flowing where and then you design the hardware around that. Not the other way around. What you describe is a lower requirement level that is much easier to handle.

That we can just rely on some basic, useful properties is, in my mind, one of the key differences to "third world countries". I don't need to check if my tap water has lead in it because I know that I won't, so I can use

Well, when I worked in Unity I used to compile C# code with the LLVM backend. It was as fast as C++ code would be. So Unity is perhaps an example in favor of C#.

No, this implies that actions are in response to something. This is not true. I can shoot my gun at any time, and even randomly. It does not depend on an opponent starting to move.

No. Colorblindness does not mean that one does not see any colors. There is only a tiny fraction of colorblind people who really cannot see any colors, and even they can still spot different luminances.

(A brief note: While not weak, the laptop version of a 3080 Ti is far surpassed by even just a desktop 4060 Ti, which is sold for less than 400$. So it's possible to setup a stronger system relatively cheaply. What's good enough d

Yup. The only exception I could think of are prearranged local times, e.g. the meeting will be on -future day- at -local time-. In that case, if, say, the time zone changes, the meeting would still be at the same local time and not move.

I would like to add that even deciding if a particular single program halts can be undecidable. At least in PA or ZFC, and I don't think there is a better math framework. There was a pretty cool Bachelor's thesis (I think? Can

In I believe it was the AlphaGo Zero paper, pure policy without tree search was estimated to be near pro level. KataGo is likely much better. I'm 3 dan (yet not smart) and I will definitely lose to it even with some handicap >:-(
