I am not sure if this is a case against DSLs in general? Eg. the security rules and query lang around Firestore locks down what the develop can ask for in a way that keeps queries run fast. Not doing so could pose a security risk. However,

That is indeed a solution :) I was merely constructing a case for using fancy progress bar calculations. And conflating two non related operations into one might be one of those.

Download speed is not too important when showing a progress bar (unless one wants to do somethings fancy). If you know total content length and how much you have downloaded you just calculate the fraction and update the progress bar accordi

Its a bit harder than that, I'd say. Imaging a progress bar showing progress of two consecutive operations eg. download and process. How should that progress bar be displayed? 50% for each? If download is 30 seconds and process is half

I think I read somewhere that prices are capped at USD 9000 per MWh. That is still USD 9 per KWh which is insane pricing.

One way to enforce a law is by making a marketplace comply. This happens all sorts of places where transactions are made. Eg. you can not sell pizza in Denmark without having the proper training.

The problem with C/C++ and "newer" languages is that programs need to be individually compiled or have an interpreter installed to execute them - the main problem the author is solving. The author precisely realises that ther

I am curious here. Why is that an antipattern in said case? In particular, page based pagination requires a permanent set of elements that are sortable . Sortable, indeed, you sort based on a scoring mechanism. Permanent, nopes. If you s

Neither stock pricing or search rankings should be seems as a game. Your perspective is adversarial. Please, for the sake of humanity, let's try to be more ambitious than this. Stock pricing should, in its core, be about valuing an ass

It is expensive to increase entropy of a random source. So for randomised algorithms you might not get the performance that merited the algorithms in the first place.

Is there something I am overlooking here? Randomness is used for many other things than cryptographic usages. Eg. for randomised algorithms you need a fast source of randomness.

The obvious answer is technological development, though I think it is a bit more subtle than that. It seems like there is an evolutionary cycle going on: Software becomes too complex, is being abandoned in favour of simpler products to supp

Absolutely not. This is not an individual liability. It is the country's liability. Just like employees in a company is not liable for the dept the company could have accrued etc.
