what reduces my trust is the lack of planning between fiscal and monetary policies. why didn't the government raise salaries of teachers, nurses, etc. when central banks started doing quantitative easing? Fluctuating interest rates whi

I reckon you can argue that they store and use wrong coordinates about the place you reside, which would indeed be illegal - just like it would be illegal to store a wrong address of where your reside.

While I don't know how this will manifest in real products there are some insights to why this development is important. These insights come from the huge successes of the LLMs where we are at. The insights is the ability to emit knowl

I think it would be productive for you to focus on other sources to learn about AI. You are probably better of looking at what people achieve using LLMs and prompting instead of focusing on the fundamentals of probability theory. > A sys

This comment is reminiscent of the critical receival of Wikipedia. I spend most of my academic years studying type systems. Unless you work on space crafts or blockchain tech, that level of security is not needed. Modern typesystems is abou

In the framework of GDPR (which I know is not applicable in the US) you have the legal mandate to ask them to correct information about you. I think that is very reasonable law: If n organisation makes decision about your relations, you sho

I just wrote a report on open innovation, and I explicitly brought up this development - going from having to implement everything in house (before effective internet) to vendoring to the external dependencies we have today. While it is def

I have done some reflection on core democratic values. Especially to whether there is a more fair key than 1 person 1 vote. Eg. land is the main mandate for a country to controle. Should land be the key? The one with more land gets more vot

also the interest rate has gone down from 20% to close to 0%.the rate is going up again, and we should see the housing market correct itself, but it usually takes a couple of years - in particular, my take is that the interest rate does not

I think your linked EIU article uncovers a bit of the secret: > Singapore and Zurich top the ranking as the world’s most expensive cities Especially the emphasis on cities. At least in Denmark, living in a city is a lifestyle choice. It

Not trying to take away from you, that it is difficult. Just saying that it hasn't changed too much over the past 50 years – it was also difficult for the previous generations. At least in Denmark, the situation is better now than it h

while the Anglo world seem to have some quite severe issues re. housing, that is not the case in the Scandinavian world. housing and jobs are roughly as easy/difficult getting your hands on as for the past generations. We still suffer

at this point you can not claim that there is no credible competition. from my perspective the "issue" is that none of the competitors get traction. why would they? you either have to pay or change your habits. Regardless, DMA, Gd

First you become value creating, then value extracting. On a deeper note: Search is challenged. With the advent of first niche communities and now LLMs the traditional idea behind search engines is a left over from the 00s. Google need to e

The audience for these types of announcement is bigger. My intuition is that there are many more consumers of node-like environments today than any runtimes 15 years ago.

I use both Deno and Bun in production (albeit, on different projects). They are both great upgrades from node. In particular with the first class support for TypeScript. Bun is great for large projects with the enhanced DX over any node bas

Something like this! So that you can naturally query your data defining relationships and constraints (This can already be done using joins, but that is not very ergonomical, especially when a lot of relations are at play)

I would say that the right thing is a sabbatical. tell your friend to take 6 months to work on something they find is super. interesting or important. new opportunities will emerge and feel natural.

Why even use a database? Just assign a variable. All state is dead the second you destroy the container anyways.

I am curious on this. Why do you think SQLite is simpler than Postgres? and in what setting is that the case? Sqlite comes with the headache of managing an attached volume.

this is a common sentiment, but extremely flawed. if look into any pension scheme you will see that money are invested all they way up to payout. the question is the risk of your investment. as other people called out. this case was fraud.

I think this is insightful. What a company write in their TOS is an indication of what they intend to do. Broad scopes also means broad intentions (like startups). You could read into that, that Vultr is intending to break the law in the EU
