I am working toward a similar goal with my open source project (respondcms.com): allow the developer/designer to focus on design while allowing the end-user to focus on creating content.

I would want Rx for both.

That is a cool concept (Frameri). Are you going to offer sunglass lenses? I would much rather have 1 frame with 2 lenses (sun + normal).

This sounds like a good rallying cry, but as someone who is seeing both products for the first time, I would say that Google does a much better job of communicating their product. In fact, I would not have not know what SiteNinja did if not

To me, it looks like Microsoft is setting up Lumia to be the consumer brand and Surface to be the professional, pro-sumer brand.

Agreed. To me at least, the iPhones are beautiful, fast, reliable...and really, frickin boring. I would much rather have an fat, ugly phone if that meant I could customize it.

http://respondcms.com/ I know "why do we need another CMS?" It's cool because it makes it really easy to deploy Bootstrap sites. Plus, it has a full API and a great UI (well, at least I think so).

I would like to hear more about the security around this. Given LinkedIn's reputation, this is a bit scary.

I have been moving more-and-more toward designing in code because CSS3 has replaced a lot of assets I use to create in PS. I purchased Pixelmator a few months back b/c PS was honestly too expensive for what I needed. It does take a li

Its funny how old rivalries never die. Meanwhile, Google and Amazon are bringing better hardware to market faster and cheaper than Apple.

This turned out really good. I had a similar journey a few years back where I took a class and built a custom headboard. It was a lot of fun. The two "hacks" that I got out of the experience were to (1) use biscuit joints (in re

The skill itself certainly doesn't require a degree. But, a degree does give you options to pursue other careers if you decide not to be a designer or developer. It never looks bad to have a computer science or related degree on your r

That is part of the problem, for stuff like this you should have to opt-in. How many people realize their account just became a billboard for Google?

That is better, but still too creepy for me. I am glad they let you opt-out.

To me, it depends on how they got this "recommendation". If I mentioned that I liked the product on Google+ or Google Play and that recommendation was public. Sure, fair game. But, how likely is this really? Very few people (at

I can echo a lot of what the author is saying. While I have seen less financial success, my project (respondcms.com, if interested) has taught me a lot about writing code, designing UI, and dealing with complexity. I am definitely a better

A "developer-focused" approach seems like overkill for most sites, but I could see it finding a home in large institutions (universities, companies, etc) that have dedicated development teams.

The idea this is unfair or "spec" work seems silly to me. As a professional, you do a ton of stuff that you don't get paid for: attending classes, building your skillset, designing your portfolio, writing your resume, creatin
