Those in power will certainly prefer your kind of thinking. With your kind of thinking, Nelson Mandela wasn't going to be released from jail. I doubt they were even gonna send him to jail. They were going to quietly execute him. Aparth

Sorry. I thought you were talking about Hacker News. Maybe it doesn't require HTTPS because there is no transmission of any sensitive data.

Mine is running HTTPS. Even when I try to force it to use HTTP, it redirects me to HTTPS. I am on Chrome.

If it is a library, I will prefer an open source one, but if it is some software, I don't mind even when it is closed source.

GitHub probably did more good for the FOSS community than any other project I can think of. Before GitHub, it was so difficult to share code. Solutions available weren't anywhere close. I don't understand why he wants every little

Any evidence to backup your claims that they track incognito searches? They promised not to track and I don't see anything that suggests they do track me when I am incognito.

The benefits of using Google far outweighs the bad side of Google. When I want to search for private things, I go incognito mode. I clean up my activity log from time to time. I only allow Google Maps to track my location when I am using it

I tried DDG a while ago and it didn't feel natural to me. It will be so hard for me to change a search engine after using Google for 20 years. I am too attached to this search engine and it is good enough for my needs. I rarely change

"Fast, clean and no ads" was a big deal for me. Internet was very slow when I starting using it. When I discovered Google, it was a breath of fresh air to my life. For a change I was using a search engine that loaded fast.

Coca-Cola South Africa reduced the size of a can from 340ml -> 330ml -> 300ml. Their justification was that the government introduced sugar tax to fight obesity. Yep. We do have African countries with obesity problems. Price has alway

I feel a downvote must only be used for a comment that has vulgar, strong language or anything that isn’t in the good spirit of a good debate. Downvotes must be used only to flag comments violating guidelines, not as a way to silence those

All I want is a button that allows me to block a website from appearing on my search results. They can keep it for others. I know I don’t want articles from Quora, Pinterest, and paywalled news sites when I am searching for something on Goo

That’s why I said sometimes. It isn’t all the time that you need to protect people but kids needs to be protected. People who are mentally ill must be protected from themselves. In some cases, even forcefully put them in mental hospitals. T

But even countries which aren’t under dictatorship have laws to protect people against themselves. Even those who are on top of the list of most democratic countries.

Thanks for clarifying. I am in the same boat. Whenever I go against ideologies of HN, I am always prepared to lose some karma also. I refuse to use a throwaway account.

People need to be protected from themselves sometimes. Just because someone is an adult, doesn’t mean they will always make correct decisions. Plus, you are never sure if they are doing it without being coerced and silenced at the same time
