Flour isn’t the problem now, it’s yeast. Fortunately my mother in law traded us a few packs for an old iMac, so my daughter can now make pizza dough. Joking aside, we did give her an iMac, but you can’t find yeast anywhere.

No, and only 64 GB max of non-ECC at that. I typically don’t run simulation of more than 1 hour though, and I’ll know when the results are wrong. My use case is CAD/real-time design for RF and EM; multiple smaller simulations of para

Some engineering software I use, uses Intel MPI libraries, and I suspect the math kernel also. The software runs 30% faster on an i7 versus a Ryzen 7, both with equivalent clock rate and number of cores. Given the forthcoming i9 will hit 5

Unless you pay with cash at the grocery store, they are already harvesting it. I’m surprised they are not selling it to the health insurance companies to monitor your habits.

We just bought the latest vacuum and mop robots, and they work fairly well. We had bought one 17 years ago and it didn’t work well at all. They have made good progress in the control algorithms since.

I’m looking forward to picking up some test equipment. The problem is hardware is no longer built here. Back in the 2000 dot-com bust, there was plenty of RF and optical equipment going for cheap. As another poster mentioned though, thes

Peregrine makes several digitally tunable capacitors (switched capacitor banks) that work to S-band and can handle moderate power. I have used them for antenna tuning. https://www.psemi.com/products/digitally-tunable-c

Don’t know. I just read that 10 series is 64 GB max. I do know that Ryzen supports ECC and > 64 GB. Intel must want you to buy Xeon, when that is a poor choice for my application. I need clock speed, not massive cores.

See my other reply. Ryzen is 30% slower due to Intel compiler optimizations, and I need higher clock speed rather than cores. The new i9 with 5.1 GHz boost should work best.

That’s the problem. They are not massively parallel. In fact, don’t use more than two cores efficiently. Therefore the i9 will perform better than Xeon due to higher clock speed with lower cores. Also, this software uses Intel MPI librar

I’m running the same PC since 2011, and doing done hefty EM simulations in it. I did expand it to 32 GB RAM recently just cause I was running out, and 32 is still insufficient. I’m holding out until the new i9-10 are out. Unfortunately th

I use CST often, and used it for helical resonators, specifically the Eigenmode solver. The latest version should do an eigenmode analysis with open boundaries, which you’d need for coils. My resonator was in a cavity.

The base cost of a Keysight Field Fox spectrum analyzer is $6k. You then enable $60k worth of licenses on it, but all the hardware is already in there. Pretty crazy.
