You can run Windows ARM in emulation, as the MS Surface uses ARM and has a version of Windows available. I have run Windows ARM in Parallels on an M1 on a client's machine.

By encoded you mean it's an image and not text? That sounds like a deliberately obtuse way to do things. Maybe crop your person data out of the pdf's using some script.. then use mechanical turk or some other piece work service to

I’ve heard of tools in Python that can extract data and text from PDF files… My bank offers CSV downloads of the same data. Look for that first! :)

Does the same thing happen if you unlock your login keychain in the Keychain application in Utilities? It might just need access to the keychain to get permission, through some accessibility service, to be able to use the remapped buttons.

Push back.. if his sense of urgency is to become yours then it needs to be worth it. Do not undersell yourself. Tell the client that you will need to shift other projects around to accommodate him. Then tell him his urgent work gets billed

I wish we were more like the UK.. there the hardcover, trade and paperback editions all ship at the same time unlike here where you might have to wait a year for the paperback.
