Responded to a sibling comment: I’m referring to people who oppose industrial solar installations for some reason.

I should have made it clear: I’m referring to people who are adamantly opposed to large solar installations, apparently because it’s a threat to agriculture? It’s very odd, but I see yard signs and bumper stickers everywhere in rural Indian

I’m amazed at the amount of opposition to centralized solar generation. I assume there’s a fair bit of fossil fuel industry astroturfing involved.

iCloud isn’t reading non-iCloud email, and I don’t know, but would anticipate, that other than spam filtering it doesn’t even read the iCloud mail. Ditto iMessage: Apple is not harvesting user data in the way that Meta wants to.

There are many, many blue collar jobs which Americans don’t want to do at the prevailing wages (or at all). Agriculture is a prime example of this. There are relatively few high skilled, high paying jobs which Americans don’t want to do.

As much as I appreciate the FP features of Python, I much prefer a language that enforces immutability. Constraints like that make the code easier to understand, reduces the number of possible bugs.

One of my more embarrassing memories (technical ones, anyway) was having an argument with a couple of friends in college in 1988/89. I felt that sure, an internal hard drive is a nice feature, but swapping floppies wasn't all that

Several lifetimes ago I was looking at a Solaris server with very limited available space on the root partition and realized that someone had deleted the kernel file, presumably trying to solve the same problem. I really hope it wasn’t me.

I hit the jackpot: someone recorded Ralph Stanley performing O Death in concert. I caught him several years ago (on my second attempt: he was supposed to perform at the Grand Ol’ Opry, and I drove 5 hours to see him, but he canceled) but

It's hard to imagine that corruption is a rational, or even irrational, reason to vote in Trump. And the easiest way to reduce inequality is to raise taxes on the rich, which voters also apparently don't support if they're vo
