Those are wonderful. I listen to quite a bit of audio books and while some voice actors are superb, some are just terrible for my taste and ruin the book. If I can dial in the pace of speech then I would almost prefer this to real actors, r

I will be back at the office full time next week because I like the office. I know though this is not sustainable after going in a few days last week. This only makes sense when all your competitors are also stuck in commercial leases. I th

IMO we can't know truth for almost anything that is really going to be discussed on social media. The best we can do is a probability of bullshit. I don't want truth tellers. I want bullshit detectors. These are not the same thing

This type of language is real slippery though when we start applying it to subjects and ideas that are not falsifiable. I think when you apply this in that context you will inevitably end up with digital authoritarianism. I would say it is

My fav is anything with Seth Lloyd. He is straight out of central casting for a MIT professor. So great, so nerdy, so interesting.

I am an American with a life long love affair with Canada. I follow Canadian news and media pretty closely. Claims like these are what I read about all the time in Canada. As an American, to me their culture has moved to a very strange plac

Sounds good on paper but there is a good chance this just makes the expected value of the bets spent on government influence by anti-competitive forces go up in the long term.

I mean I love to work now but there have been times in my life when I was younger I could have made the stimulus money last a long time listening to mp3s and drinking natty ice or red dog. A year easy. Maybe 2 or 3 with a little creativity

No doubt. You can even go a step further. What about this discussion we are having right now on here about this topic? Why bother just for useless upvotes? No one is even paying me to think about this.

The older and more educated I become from free classes online the more ridiculous our education system seems. I pretty much know if I learned the material or not. A test is nice to confirm this for myself but the way we have put test scores

At some point, I would think you at least need some kind of regulation with stable coins. You don't need that big of a correction from here for the sum of Tether/USD Coin/Binance USD to overtake ETH even. If that happens then

I just don't think smart companies can afford to force the employees back to the office right now. It does feel like some kind of worker revolt. Literally everyone I know wants to quit or do something else. Not like we are talking inde

I just think if you look at human history as a whole the natural equilibrium is authoritarianism. We have been in this far from equilibrium state of individual liberty and we are drifting back towards equilibrium. Because of the WW2 generat

I think this part of the problem though. We don't believe we can really do anything at this point so we have turned everything into a stochastic process with multiple draws needed and it gives everyone an out when things don't wor

I don't think anything would stop someone from publishing a great paper in physics or computer science on their own in 2021. Albert-Laszlo Barabasi's book The Formula is kind of about this. While nothing would stop an individual f
