PHP is totally fine. The question is more: Do you like, do you want to work with PHP, or do you want to work with Python, Ruby, Smalltalk, Lisp, etc.

Why is it always: they win we loose. That is nonesense. They might win, but we don't automaticly loose. There is some misconception in there. Economics aren't sports.

I would like to make a request: Please search for a project not in the web area. Try to work with projects like Gimp, Inkscape, Gnome - they need more help in my opinion.

I think Mark Shuttleworth is right, when he tries to improve the Ubuntu ecosystem. I needs more than code to have a great computing experience. People miss the point, when the critisize Canonical so often.

Please do Linux a favor and buy a preinstalled: ZaReason, System76. Their machines work great with Ubuntu - unlike many laptops from other vendors. And yes, you get all the software you'll need - it's Debian at least.

Ultra minimalist is regarding to the ui. But the great drawback is: no tabs - by purpose. The Author don't want to have tabs, otherwise it scribes could be the best oss editor.
