One of my earlier startups, I was a junior/mid level software engineer. I took a skive day to WFH, but was actually travelling to a gig on the train. I sketched out something to pretend I was working that day, and sent him a photo of i

The group needs to be big enough (6+ people) that you’re not just chatting with someone; you’re part of a group and can drift in and out .

I’d say I fall in the “AI skeptic but willing to use it” category. If LLMs can actually clean up after themselves it would actually be a game changer.

We put #define WIN32_LEAN_AND_MEAN 1 #include <windows.h> In precompiled headers to solve that particular problem.

Genuine question a why are you using AI for a hobby project like that? It seems like the worst of both worlds.

There is a lot of words here (I haven’t read the full report and I’m assuming it’s heavily AI generated but I will look later). For an article about the AI economy, there is no mention of economy.

Because the goal isn’t to punish, it’s to get them to do what the law wants them to do. The fine is supposed to be a slap on the wrist - the actual desired behaviour is compliance

A quick google says that the entire city of Chicago draws about 3.4GW - are you saying that one bakery uses over 2/3 of the draw of the entire city?

What bakery are you thinking of that pulls the equivalent of a mid sized nuclear power plant? Because you’re off by an order of magnitude I think. (2.2MW maybe)

One of the big ones is people just over clocking way past what’s sensible. Another is stuff like https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/z3xf5r/msi_aft... or https://www.reddit.com/

On the trackpads - I only ever use my MacBook as a single screen device, so the experience may be different. A long time ago I used it with an external monitor and the experience was very poor compared to windows. > Ugh, this is annoying

It absolutely does - allegedly there’s 6 million listeners to the biggest breakfast radio show in the UK and 4 million to the second biggest. That’s 10 million in a country of about 55 million adults.

That’s what the got a _slap on the wrist for_. 1.5 Billion of a payout to effectively cement themselves as one of the only orgs that can ever create one of these models because the ladder is pulled up behind them.

I agree with you on the precedent > after MS implemented precision touchpads somewhere in 2015, and suddenly Windows touchpads became as precise as those on Macs. There’s still a world of difference between a MacBook touchpad and a windo

The people writing the tools in maya are writing python. Most people on the game itself are writing C++. On a project with 30 engineers or so, you might have one, maybe two people writing “low level” c++, everyone else is writing “high leve

It’s stuff like “we enforce a naming convention for all bones”, or “we do a coordinate flip” or “limit number of material references”. It’s all bespoke custom stuff that exists in every studio but is slightly different, and project specific

Yeah - I agree. It’s also still sad to see that we are beholden to industries dragging their feet. A 10% reduction in 5 years isn’t enough, but they will claim difficulties and issues in the scale. Yet when Covid hit, or AI came on the scen

Sure - but my point is that the waste by businesses absolutely dwarves domestic waste. I used to work in a shop, and we “recycled” (LDPE so not recyclable) more plastic in a week than I have used in the 10 years since I worked there. I’m no

I did a remodel last year. I filled 2 largeskips by the end of it. This is the first large job this house has had in 10 years, and it’s a 130 year old house. The cafe at the bottom of my street has roughly that amount of waste collected eve

Adding a cache layer to keep using the wrong database is an architecture failure - if you use Postgres from the get go you will not need the cache until way way later on anyway. (Side note, I’m team MySql but the same point applies)

The logitech software is absolutely awful. All of the functionality is on device, but you can manage it with https://logiwebconnect.com/ instead. I’ve used Logitech mice as my daily driver for years with this.
