I think we'll see smaller capacity VTOL aircraft for shorter flights before we get batteries with enough energy density for long-range flights. You'd just need to have a fast charging rate or potentially swappable batteries at lan

The worst kind of space debris sits in orbits outside of the atmosphere where there is negligible drag. Since these satellites will be in very low orbits that require propulsion to stay aloft, any potential debris from collisions or inopera

The MBTA has suffered from funding issues, and it was saddled with billions in debt from the Big Dig. Many of the trains and track infrastructure are old and in need of replacement, but without the funds the MBTA has been forced to repair o

Yeah, I wouldn't say this is common knowledge. It's not terribly hard though, on debian-based systems you can just use checkrestart.

Blockchains do nothing to make the source of information trustworthy, they can only prove the information was created before a particular point in time. You could doctor a photo/video and put it on the blockchain just as easily as a re

I wonder if it'll get bad enough to spur consumer hardware to switch to ECC. I can't believe the price difference is very significant, especially if it starts being produced in even higher volumes.

On the Android side, it's not terribly difficult to send a copy of the app to a computer and decompile it. Then you can simply search for any code that invokes the Android function for mic access.

I've actually been posting about this a bit recently on various threads. I think a permanent rotating space station with 1G artificial gravity in low earth orbit could be the next stepping stone to opening access into outer space. Faci
