I sailed a tall ship between Shetland and Norway. We zig zagged between oil rigs. I felt like I was starring in Water World, The Pirates of the Carabeean and The Goonies all at once. It was awesome.

I have periods of intense thinking of a problem I am trying to solve. Then I just do something different. Take a shower, go for a walk, whatever. For me changing the environment helps a lot, or using my body. Then the ideas start to flow.

I listened and I think it’s really good. I wonder how much effort went in to polishing the sound. Or did they just feed a script into some voice generator?

The cool thing about learning a new language really well, is that it creates a new world. You get to learn words that describe things that your mother tongue can’t. Just like a programming language? Some things are easy and other things are

It not that this tech does things now that scare me. Now I am mostly exited. I believe my uneasiness stems from the unknown potential of this technology. Now, one could argue that that’s always the case for technology, so why do I feel unea

Am I the only one with an uneasy feeling about all these advancements? Are we going fast or is it just because of the buzz? I have a hard time separating the two. It’s very exiting and I want to keep being exited. I don’t want to become ter

I bought Ikeas standing desk that I raise and lower by hand. I think it costs 300 USD. For me it’s worth it, plus you get a small workout when you have to change position.

Thank you for that recommendation. I didn’t know Flyvbjerg had a new book. For other HN readers interested in the topic I can recommend “ The Oxford Handbook of Megaproject Management”. Bent Flyvbjerg is the editor of the book I believe.

I like SQLite and JSON columns. I wonder how fast it would be if you save the whole JSON file in one record and then query SQLite. I bet it’s fast. You could probably use that one record to then build tables in SQLite that you can query.

I agree. I took a course in databases and SQL and was blown away by its power. With CTE’s and PLSQL you can do a lot of stuff inside the database. I played with SQLite and it’s json columns. Once you get the hang of the syntax for walking a
