Yeah I understand that part, my question is about showing the scraped data to your users. https://www.yummly.com/ used to have a paid API for recipe search and currently still lets users search their index. Did they have to

Are there any legal issues with scraping recipe sites in a commercial app like that? I'm assuming ingredients and directions are "facts" so can't be copyrighted, but what about the pictures?

Github with github pages and content in mdx using https://v2.docusaurus.io/ For non technical users you can setup a github action to build and push on every change.

Abbeel's new robotics company might be working on commercializing that prototype ( https://covariant.ai/ ). I remember him mentioning the project in his robotics class, found it: https://youtu.be/xWPViQ6L

It really depends on your application but you can come up with a lot of different aggregation schemes to rerank top results based on the whole document.

People are working on cheaper arms and we should soon have ones for under $10K. Ex: Pieter Abbeel from UC Berkeley https://news.berkeley.edu/2019/04/09/meet-blue-the-low-cost-... https://github.com

You index an embedding for each sentence and match against sentence embeddings, then rank documents based on highest scoring sentence matches.

Ideally they'd get behind a strict subset of typed python that could be compiled the same way that cython is. Numba, PyTorch JIT and Jax are already handling a decent chunk of the language.

Biggest change will be the loss of small businesses, even more vacant storefronts. If there is an exodus, it will be of blue collar workers to states like Pennsylvania.

I don't expect them to promote anything, back in the day a good app could get some initial traction, make it to the top 1000 apps in a category and move up the charts based on usage and good reviews. That's not possible anymore. I

They could go back to the way it used to be, when you could open up the app store, see all of the categories than be able to see the top few hundred apps in each category, ranked by popularity. Now they have a manually curated feed of 1-2 a

Yeah and their new curated app store makes it impossible for people to find anything that they're not promoting. I have a health app and it takes me 5-10 minutes to find the health and fitness section now to see what the top apps are.

Yeah I use it too and it has worked great. It's just markdown, the data is easy to export and the search works well so it's easy to find anything that I drop in there. They also have a new alpha with an improved editor https:

Nice, I've actually had a few people ask for that. Might have to add a way to turn a logged meal into a recipe/new item and let you adjust it the way you described. Meal planning and suggestions is also on the roadmap.

It's not open source but I'm working on an app to make nutrition tracking easier, it's called Bitesnap. I'd be open to open sourcing parts of the app and will open up an API for it soon. I'd love to hear what ideas

I’d like to know why they’re not in the search business. They have enough signal from their platforms to offer great personalized search results and it would allow them to grow their ad revenue with intent based ads.
