I'm starting some 45 days of vacation between jobs. I cannot leave the UK while unemployed due to visa issues, so I want to use this time to relax, improve my ML skills, and get back some good habits I lost during the pandemic. I'

My least favourite example of bad C++ change is deprecating and removing the overload of `std::random_shuffle` that doesn't require a new random device and a random function [1]. Sure, that version was cryptographically insecure, but 9

Personally, I think going to the industry straight from college was a mistake. In half a decade of working in the real world I've learned nothing more than dealing with office politics and the importance of delegating work while still

A certain company I'd rather not mention since I'm still negotiating the offer to. You can find good salary data in levels.fyi. In my experience, that is very accurate.

I moved to Britain a couple of years ago, and I was surprised at how many legitimate transactions are done in an insecure way. For example, I had had to talk my credit card number out loud on a telephone call to put a deposit on a flat and

We can get very close, but even if we had technology to make an indistinguishable copy the original wouldn't fall in value and none of the copies would be near it. The Mona Lisa isn't valuable because it's a nice painting: it

A company cannot out-engineer bad management nor out-manage bad leadership. A lot of people who worked in giant tech companies can tell you stories of talent being wasted on tight deadlines for unnecessary projects.
