As mentioned in the article, it isn't really. There were mass protests by amazon employees in Germany last year. I don't know if anything really changed since then, but I kind of doubt it.

That depends on how you install your node/npm. For nvm installs the default is ~/.npm which doesn't require root privileges but is user specific.

It was however minified for at least some time. Which made me sad because it greatly limited my abilities to easily cheat. (I did beat it without cheats but that took quite some time)

The deadfish program sadly stops working after it has run once. I tried debugging it, thankfully the javascript code isn't minified. I still failed.

The fix in https://github.com/meteor/meteor/commit/49e9813 seems to be just limiting the effect of the problem, not removing it. The variable is still being held in memory just with the value null instead of

That may be, but it really shouldn't be. You cannot have sufficient trust in all parties involved to be certain that no sensitive data is going to a third party (the website you're going to) that is malicious.

There is also the nifty "Break on ... Attributes modification" in the web inspector. Just go to the element in the "Elements" tab, right-click, "Break on ..." and choose what kind of breakpoint you want. I just tested it with jQuery.hide()
