If only this was a certainty - Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down with 298 people killed 12 years ago but still no one was directly punished for it...

Its a bit easier as it can be read-only & static generated. Though there are some attempts to make it possible to reply using the Web interface, like HyperKitty /Mailman 3.

You check the mailing list archives - those usually have a web based interface.

A lot of traditional forums are still active. :) Just the hype seeking people left to Discord and Reddit to be able to lament about how these new places are awful and crying about phpBB and vbuletin being dead.

Its already bad enough people are using non-GPL compilers like LLVM (that make malicious behavior like proprietary incompatible forks possible), so yet another compiler not-under GPL, that even AI-washes GPL code, is not a good thing.

Don't even need to do time dilatation - just make you lifetime longer by techjlnical means (ideally almost infinite) and you will be in the next star sumystem before you figure out how to exit your VIM session.

Starlink is totally oit of picobaloon range by orders of magnitude - we are talking hundreds of mW at most. At the same time it is true the board (rpi pico usually) could totally support a camera or other high bandwidth instruments - it jus

Yeah, our baloon was recorded by WSPR eeceivers thousands of kilometers away when it crossed the arctic circle for a day - we wpuld have no data if it were dependent on line of sight or even just flying over inhabited territory. And indeed,

Yeah, and pico baloons are extremely tiny, often at 10 grams or less, comprising some very thin plastic, some thin wire and tiny PCBs - this is also how they can fly so high for so long. Lost of types of hail will be much heavier and harder

Yeah, I think ours was less than 10 grams. As rules go, IIRC at least here in the Czech Republic anything below 100 g is unregulated, you just need to have a licensed amateur radio operator, so that the probe can broadcast in the 20 meter W

It is super cool - we managed to launch one on a pair of Aliexpress wedding baloons filled with helium and it tracked all the way from Europe to South Korea, for about a week. It even breached the arctic circle and entered the jet stream fo

Isn't the problem that he can do it single-handedly ? Tariffs are usually something a given gover ing body needs to vote on & they are supposed to be implemented with a reasonable timeline. Being able to set tarrifs and other stuff

Starlinks are built to safely burn up on re-entry. A big reusable platform will have to work quite differently to never uncontrollably re-enter, or it might kill someone by high velocity debris on impact. This adds weight and complexity and

Too complicated - just strap it to a flying drone that can then slam it to the target at high speed. Works well enough and is in wide use, many people just don't seem to have realized the implications - kinda like with machineguns and

Yet another reason why fully open hardware and open software is so important + of course a fully open source slicing pipeline. It might be a bit less convenient than a shiny vendor locked Bamboolab closed machine but it is perfectly doable.

Cool - I was thinking it would be good for them to implode as a company due all the extra harmfull stuff they are doing with Windows recently. Generating bilions of lines of code that is unmaintainable and buggy should easily achieve that.

Yeah, the planned Czech high speed trains (VRT) have the same gauge but are expected to be used by the high speed trains almost exclusively, with a limited number of normal-speed passenger trains and AFAIK no cargo traffic at all.

Yeah - the Czech wording is quite clever: * the first one makes it clear a something (a different material) is used to join things together * the second one implies you melt/boil the things to join them together

It should be possible to switch the terminal to use the satellites themselves for positioning (Starlink positioning) but it needs manually switching to that option.

AFAIK they used GPS spoofing which confuses the Starlink terminals - they need to know where they are to properly connect to the satellites above. This can be overriden to use "Starlink positioning" where the terminal ignores GPS

If your builds are not deterministic for the same set of inputs, you are doing something wrong - or victim of supply chain attack. https://reproducible-builds.org/
