Wealth and investments are not ends themselves. Having enough money won't guarantee a meaningful life. This is a mistake many working people, not just the FIRE community makes. I found the concept of "funded contentment" by B

> nothing makes people disappear faster from a GitHub thread than asking them if they want to contribute the code changes themselves. Sad, but true. Everyone wants good software but very few users are willing to contribute anything. Even

It's not really working. Tried 2 English PDF invoices. Normal format. One came back empty, the other only had the amount right. I'm assuming they only trained on some specific documents (passport of country X, etc) and all others

I'm afraid that those bounty programs may create an expectation that all contributions need to be paid. If someone makes unpaid high-quality contributions for a long time and then sees someone else being paid for a minor fix, it will l

It's a tool like every other. Can be used in a good or bad way. I also use the stale bot, but with many labels excluded. If an issue has a proper label, it will stay open forever. If it's just a question or support request, it wil

I found that the road to success is very different for everyone and for all circumstances. It can't be taught because everyone has different skills and is in a different situation. Only very general tools can be taught. Even if person

So in the future macOS will run on arm64e architecture? Could Linux[1] run on that as well? Any chance of seeing more ARM laptops in the future? 1: https://wiki.debian.org/Arm64Port

How about using virtual phone numbers (Twilio, Google Voice, etc) for SMS 2FA? Any better than a real SIM for services that don't support other 2FA options? Should eliminate OTA and SIM swap attack vectors from figure 2.

Started to use Google Voice everywhere after telling my bank about it. They were OK, as long as they can call it from a landline. So I can slowly move away from SIMs. Virtual numbers from providers like Twilio, Plivo or Signalwire help too.

A bunch of digital nomads are currently camping out in my co-working space. Most of them are trying to get back to Thailand. If you're near KL, you should say hello. :-) (Email in profile)

Not surprised. I modeled company finances in my first internship. We would check the numbers for plausibility, but I'm certain most were still wrong. For anything serious, I'd probably choose Python/Pandas/Jupyter these

From what I see, Vue.js has a very healthy commercial ecosystem. Many people seem to be making money off their community work. Be it with blogs, courses, conferences, offering plugins, UI, etc. I think this decentralized web of incentives i

You have 2 physical Yubikeys and no backup anywhere else. One way to achieve it is by generating it on a RAM disk and throwing it away, once it's on both Yubikeys. I blogged about it here https://blog.snapdragon.cc/2019
