Simple solutions are great and I find seam carving elegant, but maybe that's an application where machine learning can shine? As globally the task is defined as displacing pixels while minimizing a perceptual loss, it should be reasona

I'm not affiliated with it but used the app for years, so I can recommend Akebi [1] for Android users. It let you do a search by path as well, and it's all local storage with no ads or feature bloat. [1] https://play.go

Hey Phil, not quite on topic but I've used some of your implem (both for hobby projects and for work) and the conciseness and clarity of your code is a delight. Many thanks!

The "Nerf--" paper [1] attempt to tackle that with a directly comparable method. You might also be interested in this [2] slightly different approach that focus on a more explicit decomposition. [1] https://nerfmm.acti

I've not seen it mentioned yet so I'd be remiss not to link to undo tree [1] for vim. I tend to put my list of plug-ins on a diet over time, but undotree is one I always kept! Having a visual of the history (like in the article) m

Interesting decision to go with tensorflow on a new system. If you have no choice because of existing code it's understandable, though recent research has clearly shifted to pytorch [1]. Though if you're required to use tensorflow

You're right to be wary, I re-read your use case and hand tracking alone won't cut it. However I still think that hand tracking _combined_ with audio input can be precise enough (above 99%). Here is an example of raw audio to midi

For non midi keyboards complemented with a webcam, hand tracking could do the trick, maybe paired with basic audio analysis to get the timing right. Some off the shelf tools are available [1] and pretty decent. It does go against your plan
