Here's a good look of the famous arch crossed by a freediver: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrXQbucZUDA A real shame that this diving site is known for all of these avoidable deaths.

You pay for some of these (like dangling IP addresses not in use) and some others have a max quota (like security groups).

Curious about what are your pain points with Nomad? We are using it and it's pretty good. Biggest pain with it is the lack of versioned documentation IMHO. But other than that it can do wonderful job in scheduling workloads.

It's not clear to me what happens after the OOM. Does the init process restarts the daemon? I would argue that it shouldn't. If the process stops responding to a healthcheck, it's the scheduler's responsibility (k8s in t

Agree with pretty much every point in the blog. I would add to the list the fact that for_each cannot be used with pre-computed values. So if you have a module/resource that outputs a list of resources, you can't just plug it int

We have a very similar setup with Cognito, GSuite and ALBs. For CLI/API access we also have API Gateway which allows to authenticate with JWT tokens that we can issue via Cognito. It's not perfect: * This setup only deals with Aut

Main difference is that all of these websites are public behind one big proxy (ALB) and not public on their own. The security concerns are centralised in one place, not 10. That's not to say that the ALB can't have a bug or a mis

I witnessed this issue as well in my previous workplace. I can't understand why Cross AZ is even a feature of NLB if this a problem. Under what circumstances would anyone enable this? UDP only traffic?

You are comparing two different types of services. While they share commonalities (passing messages between users), the details are quite different. For example, you don’t get the history of IRC server for times you were offline. It’s like

Got spoiled by Splunk, I still cannot recreate the same experience in Kibana. Elastic seem to be doing well for structured data, but when your data contains a lot of free text (such as log lines), it still lacks the rich query language Splu

Also worth mentioning you can also tunnel with SSM, so it's possible to use plain SSH or do anything that you usually used to accomplish with bastion. https://github.com/elpy1/ssh-over-ssm
