It's the "Fuck you Jony" edition. Ports (including HDMI!), MagSafe, and no touchbar. Would be a fine laptop if it didn't have government spyware baked in that I can't turn off even if I power it down.

"Tax the rich" in the US is just a slogan. In 20+ years I've been in the US I've yet to see it actually yield anything concrete. Taxes on the middle class have grown substantially in the meanwhile (health insurance is 3x

Ah yes, if your laptop is non-hidpi and your display is, you will have these issues. In my case both the laptop and the display are hidpi, and things work pretty well. Basically all devices I used in the last decade are hidpi.

What do you think of child pornography, and have you watched any of it to make sure it's objectionable for you? Or were verbal descriptions enough for you to make up your mind?

Works well on external 4K monitors also. And yes, the icons do not increase in size, but they still look OK. Certainly better than fractionally scaled icons. There's no downside to trying this - it's literally a single slider that

I've done "coding on the treadmill". It's difficult at first but you get used to it after a few weeks. Of course you can't run and type at the same time, but walking and typing is perfectly doable. It's actuall

Absolutely not sustainable, and a recipe for massive regret both in the near term and later in life. In the near term this person will burn out. Later in life they will regret not having a family and a life when they were young and healthy.

I don't need to watch 11 year old girls crotches to find sexualization of prepubescent children strongly objectionable.

No "walkouts" or resignations though. I did cancel my Netflix membership - I can't and won't support normalization of pedophilia.

One does not preclude another: the language can be flexible and offer higher concurrency that it does now. My workstation has 64 hyperthreads. Python can use one at a time. That's messed up since I use it as a general purpose language.

Protip for Ubuntu on HiDPI displays. Set the screen to 100% (everything will be tiny), then go into "Universal Access" and enable "Large Text", and also increase the size of the mouse pointer while you're at it. Adj

Chernobyl, famously, did not have a containment building around it. We don't build reactors like that. In addition today you can build reactors which simply do not have the failure modes that led to either Chernobyl or Fukushima. >

You can "reject" it all you like, the facts are not up for debate: 83% of nonprofits targeted by IRS were Republican "tea party" nonprofits. Whether that was ordered by Obama or just done to please Obama and the DNC is i

I'll tell you a secret. Even if they do have a big war chest, they aren't going to go after those targets either. Those targets _write laws_ nowadays, including the _tax laws_.

Noam Chomsky is a commie. It's actually quite baffling that he is - I'm sure he understands the inevitable horrors of that ideology better than most people, and knows it can't work, yet he keeps preaching it regardless. I do
