True. I had a somewhat similar experience with the official Alpine-based Python images. The are supposedly leaner than the Debian-based ones, but any advantage is cancelled if you need any PyPI packages that use native libraries. Now you su

Slim chance, but I'll ask anyway: Is it feasible to port Dooble to legacy platforms*? Or would that be technically impossible due to the stack used? *Thinking of PPC Macs (both OSX and OS9) as well as old *nix workstations.

I had started peddling Signal to my family members. Then Signal shot themselves in the foot by killing the SMS import functionality. SMS integration was the killer feature of Signal for bringing more people on board and get to a critical

What you describe is an over-specialized optimization that very few users would benefit from, but would still introduce significant complexity. Linux already transparently caches filesystem metadata. You already get a good speedup if you at

This is cool PR, but given today's safety regulations, it is extremely unlikely to ever see it going in production. Retro and safety don't mix very well. Opel has also made an one-off Manta GSe [1], which really got me drooling. B

I would say that the design of the federal building in SF has less to do with modern architectural trends, and more to do with the plausible (?) fear that some wacko will ram through an unprotected entrance in a van loaded with TNT.

The thing is, it doesn't matter what the founding fathers have written (or not). If you have to appeal to a (supposed) authority, then you're probably talking BS. The founding fathers were important historical figures, but they we

Why try to find a super-deep meaning in something that is straightforward and makes perfect sense in its literal interpretation? Even if it is an hapax legomenon. It's ironic that Occam was a theologian, and yet very few of his colleag
