The word valuable is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. I don't personally consider the legions of people working in filling my eyeballs with advertisement valuable, but it certainly makes a lot of money.

Very interesting, thanks! 32gb for the 5090 vs 128gb for digits might put a nasty cap on unleashing all that power for interesting models. Several 5090s together would work but then we're talking about multiple times the cost (4x$2000+

How will a 5090 compare against project digits? now that they're both in the front page :)

I think it's cheap at $3000. 128gb RAM, top of the line GPU capabilities, 4tb storage... it's much better than what a top shelf mbp can do and much cheaper

I don't understand what you guys are doing. For me sonnet is great when I'm starting with a framework or project but as soon as I start doing complicated things it's just wrong all the time. Subtly wrong, which is much worse

I hope so too. I had to leave threads because my wall was 90% people talking and complaining about Twitter and Musk and memes about the same stuff. Dude, I was here _precisely_ to avoid this, but it's even worse!

I think it's more like the move to cloud. It didn't make developers obsolete but it DID make some types of jobs semi-obsolete like sysadmins and dbas. It also created new jobs like DevOps.

Also a big sci-fi reader. I think I lasted about 20 pages in snowcrash, something about pizza delivery or something, it was so silly it left me confused. It really soured me on trying to approach anything else by Stephenson.

This game is interesting partially because it's triggering a realization in the west on how rich China is and how close they are to the west in doing high quality stuff.

there's probably truth to that, but I find it's useful at a more micro-level. I don't tell the llm to write an architecture or a big piece. It's more like, I have this data in this shape, I want a function that gives dat

I had some bitcoin from long time ago that I never touched and decided to do something with it and I had to take a look at the "current state of crypto" from a practical standpoint. I was (not very) surprised at how many scams and

I am surprised at how out of touch Schmidt is that he said all these things about WFH, AI and other topics so plainly and thought he wouldn't get massive blowback. I think he ruined his reputation with many people with this, and his re

If you go to youtube and look for chomsky interview or chomsky podcast and find the recent ones (the ones where he looks terrible!). There are hundreds I think. Some examples I had in my recent watch history https://www.youtube.c

That's a good point. Again, even as a base rate I wonder if it's any good as it seems extremely hand wavy and arbitrary, but I can see how it being part of a multi-source approach can help.
