The problem with bullying is the bullying itself, and not the specific way in which it is performed. It does not matter if you are being bullied old-fashioned analog, or hypermodern digital. The issue is that we basically have never thoug

Oh yes, I still remember the few cases where I saw that being put to "good" use. It was always about enabling immigration which would otherwise have failed. Find a woman to do a fake marriage with, pay her for it, and voila, you

Being blind is not the issue. Existing in a society that never really has embraced the fact that some members are incapacitated and would need better support is. I am 43 now, and blind since almost 40 years. And even if you are not going

Marriage is a dying concept anyways. With a few exceptions, it appears it is only used to secure relationships where children are involved. And given the declining birth rate and steadily increasing independence of women, marriage is a ra

I am not sure if science as we understand it had so much to do with it. To my experience, society changed enough to no longer tolerate--or at least accept as normal- drunken family members. There was a point where the always-drunken-grandf

For some reason, straight raw performance and theoretical computer science are not really friends, nor is it expected that they should be. To a certain extent, I understand why. Science at a university is done for the sake of the knowledg

I was never really attracted to web forums, be it StackOverflow or Reddit. I still to this day prefer tech discussions on mailing lists. That is the preferable way of cunsuming that sort of content, for me. I prefer reading/writing

I have a lot of respect for Joey. But I cant help and think: it is rather easy to go full-protest-mode if you are as famous as he is. git-annex basically powers my whole long-term file archive. Not to mention all the infrastructual code

To me, there is one big argument for privacy: You never know what your govewrnment will change into in the next few years. This basic argument for encryption is often raised in combination with countries which we already consider non-free.

I am aware how dangerous it is to completely and utterly give oneself up to the medical system. Those without experience dont want to believe this for the sake of their own feeling of comfort and safety.

Agreed. The system is flawed. And as a result, many scientific "findings" simply can't be trusted. And there is no solution in sight.

Well, location and (aparently) attitude of workers/service providers does matter. If I call a taxi, it arrives with a 99.9% probability. And it usually takes around 5 minutes to arrive. In fact, fiddling with an app to order a taxi
